#ZAMBIA : At just 15 years old, #Mwape_Chimpampa , a Zambian teenager, is already making a real impact in her country.

After losing her father, who had albinism, to skin cancer, Mwape Chimpampa decided to take action. Inspired by this grief and by her own condition—as well as that of her younger sister—she developed a natural and affordable sunscreen made from local ingredients such as carrot extract and shea ******* er.

Her goal: to effectively protect people with albinism, who are often exposed to serious risks from the sun, especially in regions where sunscreens are too expensive or unavailable.

This project, which originated as part of a school science competition, has resonated much more widely: the UN, through expert Muluka-Anne Miti Drummond, is now advocating for sunscreen to be recognized as an essential medicine by the World Health Organization, so that it is accessible everywhere, especially to vulnerable populations.
